i would love some help on this question. I think it’s a cause and effect question. I got it right, but I don’t know why B and C are wrong

Our task here is to provide an alternative explanation for the differences in the time it takes to leave a parking space- it takes longer to leave if another car is waiting for the spot than if no one is waiting for the spot, and it takes longer to leave if the car waiting for the spot is honking impatiently rather than waiting quietly.

The main problem with (B) is that it discusses the time it takes to enter a parking space rather than the time it takes to leave a parking space. The problem with (C) is that it doesn’t provide an alternative explanation for the differences in the time it takes to leave if the car waiting for the spot is honking impatiently rather than waiting quietly. In contrast, the correct answer choice (A) provides an alternative explanation both for why it takes longer if another car is waiting for the spot than if no one is waiting for the spot, AND for why it takes longer to leave if the car waiting for the spot is honking impatiently rather than waiting quietly.

      Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks Danny, so could I think about this question as cause and effect?

Yeah I think so, as long as you’re precise with respect to what the effect is- namely, the progression in the increase of time it takes to leave the parking space.
